If you can’t make it to a library or aren’t here when the mobile library calls then the phonebox library may be for you.
The old BT phonebox by Body & Soul has been converted into a mini library holding books for young and old, DVDs and CDs, puzzles and even the parish council minutes.
Unlike other libraries there is no membership, no closing times and you can keep the item as long as you like – there are no overdue fees. Just drop in, browse and return it when you’re ready or pass it on to someone else who’ll enjoy it.
There are a wide range of books from crime to children’s fiction and there’s non fiction too with self help and large size books as well. The library is updated weekly and then once a quarter all the contents are changed.
The phonebox library is free to use. It is run and maintained by volunteers and funded by Blagdon Parish Council.
Contributions are welcome – put one in when you take one out or, if you’ve got more, drop them at Fanny Adams, The Village Stores or Mendip Farm Butchers. Alternatively give Siobhan, our phonebox librarian, a call and she’ll organise a time to pick them up.
So day and night (yes, it’s lit too) they’ll be a book waiting for you.
