A paint can with paint dribbles down the sideResidents’ employment reflects a wide variety of occupations both within the community: farming, local shops and pubs, builders, plumbers, electricians, decorators, printers, self-employed crafts people; while many others commute to office based work in the nearby towns and cities.

Industry is severely limited because of planning restrictions.

Yeo Valley Family Farm is located just east of the village and has its corporate headquarters, on Rhodyate, overlooking the lake.

West of the village is a fine country house, Coombe Lodge, built between the wars. It is  run as an Events and Conference Centre and is a sought after wedding venue. Within its grounds there are various other business units.

There is also a range of part time work available including serving staff for the local pubs and shops.
