Education

Blagdon Primary School bell tower in the springFor children under five there is a Baby and Toddler group and later a Pre-school group, where they can start to develop some of the skills they will need when starting primary school.

The flourishing village county primary school in Blagdon has received good OFSTED reports. It has a committed Board of Governors and an active Parent Teacher Association and offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Parents also send their children to the neighbouring village primary schools at Burrington, Sandford and Ubley.

Nearby are secondary schools at Chew Magna and Churchill (attended by most teenagers in the village) and independent schools, e.g. in Wells, Sidcot (Quaker school) and Bristol.

There are various options for further education. There are sixth forms, colleges and universities in the surrounding area, within around 20 miles or half an hours travel.

For those finished with formal education and wanting to learn something new there are a range of daytime and evening courses. These may be held in the village, in the local area or slightly further afield such as Wells or Weston-super-Mare.
